This series is about the life in the mine that many young workers live in Dominican Republic. Some are from the region, some are from the neighboring country Haïti, in quest of better opportunities. For all of them, the mine is the only future that they foresee.
In 2014, I visited this region of the south west of Dominican Republic and was struck by the contrast with the more touristic places. I wanted to better understand and document the reality of people working in this very unique place: the sole Larimar mine in the world.
